Restoring Ancient Wisdom

Long before our communities had access to the services and resources that we do today, people relied on traditional therapy and medicine from Mother Earth to heal their ailments and sicknesses.

Now known as our ancestors, there was a time where people in the communities called upon village healers to perform and apply ancient healing techniques and remedies to the unwell. Although the effects of this ancient wisdom have never died, it was soon lost beneath the excitement and hype of medical advancements and discoveries that followed in the 20th century.

Despite these helpful discoveries made in Western medicine in recent decades, there still lacked an ability to address and heal all aspects of the human psyche. With enough of the collective population realising this gap, complimentary therapy began to re-claim its seat back in our communities. Holistic therapies such as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Kinesiology, Acupuncture and Reiki are becoming more sought-after in the modern world of medicine. The intention of therapies such as these is not to replace Western medicine, but to complement and work alongside these resources so that our communities are given the opportunity to utilise all approaches that are available to them to treat their health.

Recent studies have revealed the multi-faceted layers of a human being’s health, and how complimentary therapy has the ability to heal and restore that which is hidden to the untrained eye. Holistic therapists who practice ancient techniques of healing are finding their popularity rise as more people seek alternative and natural ways to treat their presenting heath concerns. This comes as no surprise with the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has had on people’s health and wellbeing, and their desire to understand their wellbeing on a deeper level.

As this inquisitive energy moves through our communities, the call for natural medicine and traditional healers to come forward is being heard and these modalities are finding a more significant place amongst the modern health system today.
